Any help on opening this old money box?

Hello
I bought this old money box. It seems that someone just tore it open (see image 2) - but it remains locked. I would like to get the locked opened and bend the metal back, so it is useable again. I just don't have the key, and can't seem to get the lock opened. I'm able to turn the keyhole just under 45 degrees, which seems to move the lock just about a millimeter inwards, but no further than that. When turning the lock the bit that I'm able to, I can see some sort of plate/pin which seems to be attached to a spring (image no. 6). I'm able to push up the pin and turn the lock but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
Does anyone have any idea how I may be able to make some sort of key that can open the lock? Or at least just open it once so I will be able to close it up again in order for the money box to stand flat?

Short of finding a Corbin steel key stamped 'BC9', which I don't see on E-bay-- I would say the fastest, easiest way to get a key for your box is to pay a locksmith to make one

Easier to impression a key for it. Just did one a week ago.

yes that is is the easy solution, bring to locksmith and have them do it. there is a good Venn diagram about this.. so.ething about fast and cheap or cheap and well done or fast but not well done and you can have 2 of the 3 but never fast cheap and well done.

you wanted the easy do it yourself at home for free solution right?

unfortunately, the movies and rpg video games have made the general public think that theres always a secret trick and that anyone with a paperclip can pop a lock in 5 seconds, which is not true most of the time, especially on that kind of mechanism.

if you can get a blank key that fits that lock (your locksmith shop has a wall of blanks, so worth visiting your local shop) they could impression (file the blank into a working key) or you can learn impressioning on youtube or from posts here and from friendly folks who can walk you through the process but as bill said you need the blank key first.

If that's how you like it just grab an old butter knife & file away
maybe you'll invent the key shiv

I was mostly making the point that it is not essential to have an exact blank. Normally, I grab a flat steel blank that is close and file it to fit, then impression it. Anyway, my wife would hang me if I used one of her butter knives for a key blank.

I prefer a flat piece of brass. I've used old cabinets hinges and carpet trim.
