TESA TX80 Key Blanks

Postby 36g » 8 Sep 2018 4:30

Hello, I am a new member here. Please forgive if I seem to be rude. I took a basic locksmithing course years ago, but I am not in this business of course.

I am in fact looking to duplicating the home key of TESA TX80, but the local locksmiths are all ran out of key blanks. They said if I can get key blanks, they can duplicate it for me. So I am trying to see whether there is any place online that sells TX80 key blanks.

So I would be most grateful if any one can point to a seller. Thanks.

You need to take your card to any TESA authorized locksmith and he can order the key. It is a restricted key so you won't find blanks.

Thanks a lot for your quick reply. This is also what I can get from the official website.

The problem is there is no authorized locksmith here in Hong Kong, everyone said it is an old lock and no one keep this key blanks anymore. TESA does not seem to have a presence in Hong Kong that I can ask. And I also do not have any card available. The only helpful locksmith said if I can get a key blank, he can duplicate it for me. This is why I am trying to find a key blank.

A quick check gave me a technical datasheet (linked below) it states the profile is patent protected this means you'll likely not get your blanks.
Protection by unavailability is an annoying but valid security model.

Yeah, I have read that too before I post. This is why I am looking for alternate sources. Thanks for your search anyway.

Change your lock cylinder to a different lock company and get as many keys as you need.

Not an old lock. You won't find blanks, so might as well change the lock.
