What to expect from cheap Chinese lock?

Postby leifster » 15 Sep 2018 15:16

Hi,

I'm a total beginner who mainly only have acrylic locks and a sparrow cutaway training lock. Now I want to get hold of some real locks to try my skills on.
Cost of locks in Norway is very high so I plan on buying some on Aliexpress. Free international shipping :-)

I have my eyes on this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Rarelock-30-40-50-60mm-304-Stainless-Steel-Padlock-with-2-Keys-for-Drawer-Door-Cabinet/32767272317.html

What should I expect from such a lock when it comes to the lock picking challenge? Will it be too tough for a beginner?

I'd suggest a cylinder instead of a padlock. You can disassemble it and remove some pins if it's too difficult for you. Once you can pick it easily you can put them back and have a more difficult lock to pick.

Cheers :)

you should try ebay, craigslist, and FINN.no for practice locks.

10 Krone ($1.21) padlock

hope this helps,

I'm not too familiar with Ali.
Do I see it wrong or will you get one 60mm lock at $30?

Correct. I was considering the 50mm for $21.

He isn't asking if you are paying x for y, he is asking if you are actually paying that much for just 1 padlock from china... it should be $2.00 dollars not $21.00 dollars
