Stumped by a Master Commercial

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Stumped by a Master Commercial

Postby emt1581 » 5 Oct 2018 13:21

The other day I was trying to pick a "Master Commercial" lock. Looked simple enough and nothing special about the keys. However, I must have worked on it for 10 minutes and I couldn't get one of the pins set. I tried tensioning top of the key way, bottom...nothing worked. The other three were no problem and took...maybe...5-10 seconds. But this one just wouldn't find it's home and stay put. It kept springing right back to place! It was really frustrating!

I was using a Mad Bob's pick set, and tried to rake, then pick each pin separately with a half-diamond. I put so much force on the handle of the picks trying to get this one pin down that I actually cut the center of my palm with the back end of it.

Any thoughts on what I may have been doing wrong that the one pin would never set?

Thanks!

Try a hook, also wrap something around pick, pain can distract from feel

Til better qualified respond, also apply more tension, then less tension
