eBay or AliExpress for $20 worth of tools to get you started, can do a lot with a little. Quality cost more, then build up as money and training allow. Please use for Good, not Evil. Good Luck

HPC TR-4 tension wrench, diamond pick & hook--under $10

Anybody can take a 4-5" long piece of wire hanger & make a 1/2" bend at either end & pound the short bent wire on each side, thereby making their own tension wrench for nothing-- same goes for filing your own picking tools out of a broken hacksaw blade, or even old windshield wiper blade stiffeners--I bet the local auto parts shop has trash cans full of them after a rainstorm

I never made any picks that that were worth using but with some windshield wiper metal strips I have made some good tension wrenchs. Also a bicycle spoke smashed with an anvil and bent at a right angle done right makes a great tension wrench. Look for picks on ebay or amazon.
