Mystery Parts

Postby djed » 5 Jan 2019 2:18

Happy new year everyone.

I’ve got some mystery parts I’d like identified.

I’m guessing the first is easy (likely an in ground floor safe silimar to my old Gary) but please chime in with answers.

The next appears to be a bolt (perhaps broken) but from what lock?

As always I’m looking forward to the replies.

The round part in the first two pics is a relocker plate from a Diebold 180-55 tri bolt lock. Was used in lug door upright safes versus a "floor" safe. I dont think they have made the parts in decades and when they were available they were not cheap...

The bolt in the other pics is definitely broken... Could have been an inner door lock on a safe. My guess is it came out of an old lever lock due to the notching grooves on the fence that was sort of a anti pick function causing the levers which would have also been grooved to lock on the fence at points other than the lever gate.

Wow - great information.

I wonder if it would be helpful for everyone to put their parts boxes online for trade. I don’t think I’ll ever have a need for the relocker plate but someone here might. I’d be happy to give it up for another part I’m missing (or even credit for a future part).

Lug doors arent too popular anymore but you may find somebody that needs the part. I remember the complete lock less dial was over $1K from Diebold last time I bought one back in the early 90's.

All of the old parts have value but the hard part of putting them all on line is indexing them.
