Lever Door Handle & Smart Locks

Hi! I'd like to replace my current lever door handle with a smart lock. I'm having a hard time figuring out which will work with this lock:

Does anyone have any recommendations? Ideally, it also has an app that unlocks your door and can talk to visitors.

From what I’m seeing in the photos, your door doesn’t have standard residential tubular hardware, rather it’s a mortise lock similar to a Schlage L9000 series. Your smart lock options are pretty limited with one of these. I have no personal experience retrofitting a smart lock to one of these, but IglooHome and Latch *may* have some options to check out.

from the photos, this feels like an apartment building, are you allowed to change or modify the door locks per the lease?

if it is a condo, your association may stipulate having a master key, but at least since its your condo you can have a locksmith come out, disable or remove the existing hardware, and prep the door (this means drilling the holes in the door and frame) for a normal tubular style North American deadbolt and thus enabling the installation of a blutooth/wifi/prox/keypad enabled electronic lock.

if you are going digital to make it easier for airbnb guests or nanny or handyman to get into the apartment, it may be better to get a Medeco mortise cylinder to swap out the existing one (so they cant go to hardware store and make a copy of the key), and put a combination lock box next to the door like a Supra one, and have the door key inside and give guests the code and change it every month.

Check this one out I have no experience with one.. just found off Amazon. $200 doesn't sound too awfully bad. Other than that google your area for a door hardware company or locksmith. They will have more options for you to directly order one through them.

The trim on that mortise lock leads me to believe that there are egress issues in play from the AHJ.

Single action release hardware gets very expensive.

Feels like it is not up to the occupant to change out this hardware, especially if it is in a large apartment building with a fire alarm system installed.
