Help Identifying Mosler safe lock model

Postby elijah58 » 13 Mar 2019 19:28

Hello,
I have just recently gotten access to 2 mosler flat sill vault doors that have not been opened since the early 1970's. the serial number says that it is from 1937 but I have no idea which lock is installed. the combo has long been forgotten and I want to try to open them through manipulation but, would like to know which model lock I have first. Both vault doors are in the same building, which has not been used in many years and will fall down within the next ten years probably. One is on the first floor and the other right above it on the second floor. I am attaching a picture of the lock if anyone can tell me what it is, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,

We will need more info.

Please post a photo of the doors and or the dial and any of the handles near the dial. All those things put together often tell which lock was used.

It's kinda like if you took a close of photo of a tail light and then ask which make and model car this tail light is from.. we need to see the whole car or at least more of it.

Thanks

Thanks, they were reported to keep gold and platinum in there when they were last used but, combo was forgotten many moons ago.
PS if you find anything, any pics of the workings and such would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Eli

Most often the combinations are forgotten after the valuables have been removed.

I assume it will have either a friction fence lock or one with a "flipper fence" (like friction fence, but with a spring instead of friction). You should be able to feel the difference.

I wanna say the loud funny words too,
Say this doesn't happen to be one a them vaults with the emergency egress device inside the door?
The one that bypasses the outside lock?
