LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! i havn't tryed shims made form popcans, i have used those little white thin long security things you get when you buy something, they worked very nicely, i finished all but 1 lock that i'm supposed to rekey, does anyone have any hints on how to remove the cam screws on a schlage mortice lock?

Good lord. Read the entire thread.

Popcan shims are cheap ass padlock shims made from a pop can. Meant to shim the shackle on a cheap padlock.

They are so poor that I don't even bother carrying them anymore. Any padlock that is so poorly made is bound to be more simple to pick than to shim.

If you can't pick it, it's almost a guarantee that you can't shim it either.

When I tried to shim a padlock and also a Dudley combination lock with a popcan shim, it just bent the aluminum. I need to find something stronger. How strong are the strips out of security tags compared to a popcan?

Just to clear up the codec thing, there is open source software that will play these easily:

Or that is, pop can is too weak, and nothing thicker would fit.

I love it. The second link worked for me. Great potential for a school setting and I do agree about the cat. I've never dealt much with shims just because picking is funner but I'll definately be keeping something as easy (however unrealiable) in mind. Well done.

The cat needs to be in more videos. Period.
Does anyone know what metal is used for commercial shims?
