No random internet stranger, no snobbish comments, but is this what you do? sign up on to forums and take all that effort and energy to sh*t on other people's hobby? surely there are better ways of spending your time.
I honestly feel bad for you. I thought Canadians were suppose to be nice and polite.
The term locksport is loosely lifted from a German translation of a hobby lock picking club called SSDEV, which as wikipedia explains stood for:
"...The earliest known organized group of lock picking enthusiasts is the German club SSDeV (Sportsfreunde der Sperrtechnik - Deutschland e.V. or, translated Sportsenthusiasts of Lockpicking – Germany). SSDeV was founded by Steffen Wernéry in 1997.[3] As the group grew in Germany, another group was founded in The Netherlands in 1999. This group, originally called NVHS, and currently called TOOOL (The Open Organisation Of Lockpickers),[4] has also helped to pioneer the collaborative hobby of lock picking...."
I personally prefer calling it hobby lockpicking, some like calling it locksport, or competitive lock picking, but believe me, no one here thinks we are participating in a sport like soccer or basketball, it's just a name that got English-ized at some point in time from 1997-2006
Have a wonderful day, and don't forget to call you mom, even she loves you.
