Can't remove Kwikset Deadbolt thumb latch

Postby mitchum » 3 Jul 2019 0:22

Hi, I have a Kwikset single-cylinder deadbolt with hidden screws. I removed the set screw with an Allen wrench that holds on the thumb latch as shown on a YouTube video. The problem is that the thumb latch still won't come off after the set screw was removed. Any advice on what to do next? Thanks!

Take the set screw all the way out, then put the blade of your pocket knife in between the cover plate & the thumb turn & give it a twist, the thumb turn will pop off--remove the plate & gain access to the mounting screws

No luck yet, unfortunately. I'm having a locksmith out to replace the lock. :(

Great news, as a locksmith myself I'm glad to hear you'll be hiring someone to fix this for you
