Trying to Open My Old Safe

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

It's a family heirloom, and you don't want to invest a lot of time or money on it.

On the real; even if you knew the security combo, chances are the wheel pack is out of alignment, and the mech has frozen grease in it, making it very hard to open. I don't have my point cards in front of me, and I am about positive I don't have anything that old anyway, but if they drill it, it's gonna probably damage that great looking dial anyway, maybe even the dial ring. Not sure.

If you want it pretty, and just a curiosity, you can do that cheap. You want it pretty and functional, get out your wallet, or call your local TOOOL (I never remember how many O's are in the organization), bribe them with some food, and let them have at it.

I'd want to keep the front as pristine as I could, so

I personally would cut a hole in the bottom, and take my chances on security features.

Or, maybe the back; it would make for a funny story. Talk about how solid it is,open it up, and paint the edges of the hole black and tell everyone how dynamite beats a lockpick every day of the week...
