[REQ]Simplest pick to make?

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

[REQ]Simplest pick to make?

Postby Sofam » 15 Aug 2019 12:52

Ohai.
Am a fellow interested in lock picking like you guys. I've watched tons of videos on picking but when it comesto practice am stuck with no tools. No one in ly County sells lock picks and when i tried to order them abroad they got seized at the borders( i think they're illegal) All i could get my hands on were those metals from cars wipers but i couldn't get my hands on the appropriate tools to cut and shape them ( they are expensive to buy and the professional wouldn't shape them for me as its a small bob to take they say) so am stuck with just wrenchers. So am wondering what is the simplest way i could make a lock pick without the need of any tools if possible. Am looking for the simplest effective tool i can make with some simple stuff, i know this will seem dumb to you but please just help a fellow in need. Thank you

So you don't have money to get a hand file or some sand paper? how expensive can that be? do you have hardware stores? do you have a job or are you not an adult with a job yet?

I see from your other posts that you are in Algeria. I see there are many Quincaillerie around Algiers to purchase tools.

you can use a car wiper insert to make a hook pick, just look at photos of hook picks and grab a file and file the metal away until you get a hook shape.

If you have enough time you can rub the metal off on a piece of concrete

You can get the shape very close with large files - just make sure the files you get are for working metal. A dowel or pen wrapped with sandpaper can be used for finishing shaping. It's much slower without the proper files, but it can be done.
