master lock cylinder with dial on bottum padlock

Postby heresthedeal » 17 Aug 2019 18:18

master lock cylinder padlock with dial at the bottom.

Its got a plastic disk on top that says "fatmaxx" with what looks like water droplets on the body of the lock, about 1.5 inches from top to bottom, the dial is black and domed from the dial, the actual dial is .5 inches and the shackle is only .25 inches thick.
the lock has a button on the side above the pointer for the numbers on the dial.
I've googled the hell out of it, cant even find a picture of it.
tried pulling on the shackle, nothing, cant find a gate, pushing the button actually stops the dial from moving, jumps even numbers and after a dozen trips around the dial nothing feels different.

I know this is my first post, been picking for a while, early 90s, nothing to complex, master lock padlocks, kwicksets and an occasional yale. Mostly vehicles, back in the day a set of jigglers would get you into and moving in a lot of cars.

Got back into it a few years ago after finding bill on the you tube, and the lawyer.

a friend bought it for a dollar, figured he could get it, I did to, just no feed back.
:?: any ideas?? Suggestions?

Any idea how to pick or open this thing, the button doesn't seem to do anything?

well, you wouldn't pick it, that's our word for locks that have key holes and that we can stick lock picks into.

On a combination dial lock, you would crack the combination, or decode it.

Here are the opening instructions from the Master web site:

Turn the dial 3 times to the right and stop on the first number of the sequence
Turn the dial to the left, pass the second number of the sequence and stop on it the second time around
Turn the dial to the right and stop on the third number of the sequence
Push the button while pulling the shackle

I am not sure off hand how to feel for gates on that lock, perhaps press the button while dialing to see if it goes any deeper?

Here is a link to one for sale, perhaps your work lets you visit this link: https://www.officeworld.com/shop/MLK2050XD/14Q1/

It sure is a neat looking combination lock!

thanks, after that, I think its a push button and pull shackle to get it to bind or fall into a gate.

I'll let you know how it goes.
