Old French safe "Oursevre"

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Old French safe "Oursevre"

Postby Gilly-1nFrance » 2 Sep 2019 10:59

Hi, I have recently purchased an old doctor's house in France. It has a safe installed and I have the key, but it is a combination lock (see photos) and I don't know the combination! In each hole are 20 "clicks". The key fits all the holes and you can turn the key and feel the clicks. The likelyhood is that there's nothing in the safe, but I'd love to find out. Any suggestions welcomed. This is my first post so please be gentle....!

Does the center keyhole also have 20 clicks?

Wonder if center could be tensioned, and look for gates on the 4?

GWiens, Stratmando, if this is like the Bauche safe lock mechanism, I guess not.

Gilly-1nFrance, nice safe you have there. Do not ruin it while trying to open it. Abandoned safes are always empty.

Cheers :)

And sometimes have the combination written on a piece of paper inside the safe.
