Some help with this lock?

Postby agromenawer » 7 Oct 2019 12:17

Hello everybody,

I would like to open this lock of an indoor room. But I don't know how because it seems the standard technique is not applicable to this lock. So any idea of how I could open it (with house materials preferably)?

I uploaded this video with photos of the lock and of the key of a similar lock of the house:

Thank you very much!

Yes, the video is private and we can't see it. I guess you don't want it to be publicly visible in your channel. I'd set it as unlisted so it won't appear in your channel. The video will show only if you have the direct link.

Cheers :)

Wait, this is a lock in your house and there is a locked door and you need to pick it open? What is the door to? someone else's bedroom? landlord's cleaning closet? Has the door always been locked and when is the last time it was open?

Also, I have never seen a key specifically like that, what country are you in?

Thank you

That looks like either a warded lock or a lever lock.

Just when you finally think you have learned it all, that is when you learn that you don't know anything yet.

Hey Squelchtone!

It's in our house, we lose the key recently and the door is to a bedroom (dont worry nothing illegal haha). Last time the door was open was like a month ago. We are in France.

Thank you

Alright! I think it's a lever lock. Thank you very much!

I found this video, but it seems a bit difficult for my 0 skills in the subject. But I have read that there are different degrees of lever locks. The one in the youtube tutorial is a 5 lever lock, but perhaps mine is easier 3 lever lock. I hope.

Thank you

By looking at your key, it may be a 2 levers. Keep in mind the key should work from both sides if the door, so you only need to impression half of it. But if you have no picking or impressioning experience, I suggest you hire a locksmith. It will be cheaper than having to replace a broken door.

Good luck and keep us updated on what you decide to do!

Cheers :)

Alright! Thank you very much for your advice. I wanted to try to have a lockpicking experience myself but if you think I could break the door by doing that, maybe you are right I should get a locksmith.

Thank you very much!
