where to get more locks to practice on

Postby pixelsafoison » 7 Oct 2019 12:26

Hello there!

I'm new to the lockpicking scene (less than 2Y) - and my limiting factor has always been the number of locks that I have at my disposal to train on.

As an engineering student I do not have the funds to purchase many locks every month. Does anyone have tips regarding cheap locks that can still provide a challenge?

Many thanks in advance, and may the rake be with you!

Reason: changed the title so it doesn't sound like you just scored a metric truckton of locks...

This question is asked fairly regularly.

Here is a link to a reply on where you can get practice locks:

Hope this helps,

Lots of great ideas on that thread!

Repinnable? Too expensive for several, maybe on Xmas but I still need to afford new tires for my old junker.

However asking the local locksmith is something I hadn't thought of! I'll print his logo in 3D and go in with a huuuuge smiiiile

"Cmooon, i'm going to be an engineer. You may always need to have an engineer in your address book. What if your business goes under and you need a recommendation? Hmmmmmm? Pleaaase?" :')

I would definitely not say "What if your business goes under".

Where are you located? Don't need your address. But a country and possibly state/province might bring someone out of the woodwork.

Habitat for Humanity store is where I bought my very first Abloy Disklock deadbolt. And the Goodwill online store is where I bought my Fichet padlock. So those are good suggestions.
