Cutaway locks: has anyone attempted to make one?

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Here's a picture of the ABUS cut a way, I make no apology for the size of the picture, I have left it large to try and show the quality of the machining.

Awesome cutaway.

Was that lock home made or factory built?

All I can say is: wow. That is one dead sexy cutaway. I don't think mine will be anywhere near that quality but it gives me a good indication of what one could look like.

Where can I find that? I searched for "Matt Blaze" and it didn't yield any results :(

If you are looking for a cutaway cylinder for practice picking check out the following website.
www.multipick-service.com
The site is German and if you head to the area about cylinders and picks you will see training cylinders. There are two versions available one with no antipick and one with two antipick mushroom pins. The owner is vwey helpful, speaks excellent English and ships to just about anywhere. I would give you the exact link to the page but the site appears to down at the moment.

Why should a picture of a cutaway go to the advanced forum? After all this very forum has a sticky with links to diagrams of a lot of high security locks.
It's not the tools that open the lock. It's me.

Cut-a-Way

Postby micheal2 » 12 Dec 2004 21:42

I did a rough cut-a-way of a Master combination lock to see how it worked. I used a grinder and ground around the rear edges of the lock. The result is not pretty however, I did learn how the lock mechanism worked. This helped me to learn how to open the lock without knowing the combination.
