drilling r/h side

hi guys,
been practicing with my drill template kit,been using 4mm drills,doing ok left and right hands,but my question is say you attend a warrant and you have to re lock the door how do you do it on the right hand side as the drill hole (which is in the bolt) dissapears when the lock is unlocked

you take lock out of door, open it up, set the stump just in the gate, refit the lock , throw bolt with screwdriver or L shape wire when leaving. how far you can set stump in the gate depends upon how much gap you have between door and frame.

I'm not familular with that lock. Could the hole be tapped, fitted with a screw, ground flush at the surface, and still not interfere with the workings of the lock?

This can be a bit of a pain in the arse if the door and frame are really tight mind you.

blame the carpenter for only having a 2mm gap around the door

Ian im with pinky on this one ,bloody chippies! Huge gaps from now on please. Actually why dont you make the gap so big the bolt doesnt even reach the frame.100% non destructve openings then eh?!

so a nice 2mm gap is the way and no hassle
