I need to replace two of these locks, they were used in Bode Masats plug doors on a Blue Bird bus. Lock code is LS443, if that's any help. It would be a big PITA to have to replace the lock cams, they are weird.

LS443 comes up as a Southco code in Instacode. They make a lot of different cam/cabinet locks. https://www.southco.com/en-us/

Thank you, I've sent them some contact messages, will call them if necessary. My locksmith says it's a weird key.

Nah. Look through the threads on this forum, and you will find weird keys. Really weird keys. Gordon

Is there info on the key blank in the system, too?

Its probably going to turn out to be a custom made lock for the bus mfg.
You'll probably do better contacting the bus company than the lock side.

Why wouldn't just about any cam lock be usable as long as the length is correct? Many cam locks have tailpieces that are square drive (two sizes of square drive) that would allow you to transfer that funky tailpiece you mentioned to the new cam lock. This is for one of the access doors, right?

Sadly, when Blue Bird sold the Q-Bus to Coachcraft (which then went under) they stopped supporting the Q-Bus. So they basically told me to take a flying leap.

Yes, it's a dual plug door. The big problem is that the tailpiece is 7mm, and the available locks are all 8mm or larger. I'm totally willing to change to a totally different lock, though. And there is enough meat in the cam to file the hole out to 8mm, so I may well be doing that.

Anyhoo, given that there's a whole bunch of glass in the bus, and therefore it's probably not worth it to get a really great lock, what would you buy if you were trying to replace these locks? I've got a square file, and the piece is made out of Aluminum, so it probably wouldn't even take me very long to open it up. I just want something that will hold up in exposed conditions, and isn't hilariously easy to defeat.

Have you taken a look at National C8075 cam lock yet? https://www.mrlock.com/manufacturers-1- ... -14a-c346athe measurements look pretty good for the overall length & the cam, you may have to leave out the part that only allows the lock to rotate one direction or the other, but I don't think it will be a big deal

I tried contacting them via email about a week ago, with no response. That looks too short, but I'll contact them and see if they can help. Thanks.

That lock is way too long, I need a 7/8, that's a 1 7/16. But the size of the hole in the cam looks pretty good, so I should probably look at more of those CompX National locks. Thanks. This search would be a lot easier if manufacturers didn't apparently want to keep the specifications of their locks a secret. Almost none of them want to tell you (even in technical diagrams) about the size of the hole in the cam. I've looked at at least a dozen brands now and only two of them have provided that information.
