Key cutting machine ID

Postby mecheng46 » 22 Dec 2019 6:19

Hello, I am a new member based in UK and I recently inherited 2 key cutting machines that I don't know much about them. Internet did not bring much of information either.

Due to my engineering background i am kind of trying to identify what i have and if it's worth repairing/making use of them. The purpose is to put these machines in action and if I can and have a play duplicating my own car keys, house key's etc.

One of the two machines looks to be a Tibbe machine with a Parvalux motor but no manufacturer's label. It seems to be working ok but at the moment it has no use to me as my cars don't use that type of keys.

The other one it has a sticker on the front plastic cover that says CEA Maestro and there is a manufacturer's label on the side with some information:
Ilco Orion
M075590A
Maestro GB EU

The Maestro machine it needs a new disc and the front clamping parts needs a bit of attention and some parts replacing possibly. I am wondering if these machines are any good and it's worth the time and effort to bring them back to life.

Couple of pictures of the machines:

Thanks in advance

Orion machines are pretty good machines.

As for the Tibbe machine, I'd make an offer even though my cars don't use that kind of key either, but shipping something that heavy from the UK to the US would be prohibitive.

Can't add anything rather than what you already know.

Just when you finally think you have learned it all, that is when you learn that you don't know anything yet.

Yeah I believe the postage would be prohibitive. Unlike the unknown machine which weights more than 60kg the Tibbe machine weights only around 6-7kg.

Hopefully another member might be able to throw some light on what the other machine is and if it's worth bringing it back to life. Also where to get spares for it.

I might end up selling both locally if I can't do much with them

If you were a locksmith I'd say to call your distributor and see if the parts you need are even available. Unless the machine needs to be in original condition, you can likely substitute parts from other makes & models. I have made many key machine parts & retrofit a bunch of my own key machines with parts that I bought for other machines.
