I came across the safe in the pictures posted, I know it is a Chicago Safe and Lock Co, safe and an interior door has the words Gross' Patents on it. I know the combination and can open it easily. I'm looking for more information about the safe. What year was it made? The model? How much is it worth? Any information helps, thank you!
Have only worked on 1 Chicago safe, and it was only a cleaning. They came in single or double-door models, ( model #s unknown). The dial probably has 70 numbers. The lock has 4, hole-change wheels. Same wheels used on a Halls Premier lock. Last turn right to stop around 21. That's about all I know of the Chicago safes. Value-----trick question. Whatever someone is willing to pay. I wouldn't put too much credence in an 'antique' dealer giving you a 'quote' as they are generally highly inflated, in my opinion. You've got a nice safe.
