Mosler safe and lock co. 2 door safe kid locked

Postby Hella_036 » 20 Jan 2020 3:19

My mom and I just recently purchased an old brick and mortar building that was a family owned jewelry store. The parents passed and their kid wanted nothing to do with building... it was built back in 1880s in carlinville il. The safe is empty and was open. The jeweler used the safe but had an alarm system on it to know if it was opened, which is crazy, because I, like a dummy shut the inner door and then the outer 2 doors and left. Then my mother had my sisters kid in there who spun the dial and locked outer door. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I was hoping to get this safe outta here and use it for a fire safe at my house. New here trying to figure how to post pics. The safe is from 1894 and is aprox 4 foot high by 3 foot wide and 2.5 feet deep. It has 2 doors with two levers and one dial. Seems to be the 10x by reading other post.

If nobody has the combination you will need a safe tech to open it.

Go to SAVTA.org and use the tech search at the top to find a safe tech in your area.

A close up of the dial and handle isn't enough information. We do not have a database of combinations based on late 1800's serial numbers.

Please post a photo of the entire safe including the wheels it is on, doors and corners. This helps identify what model safe it is and thus how much of a pain it is to have a safe technician get into it.

Not sure what a 10x is, have not heard that term before regarding Mosler safes.

Thank you

I think OP may have been referring to the Mosler #10. It may have the 5-H lock but who knows.

Serial number does equate to 1894. The lock could very well be a 5H as the two 5H locks on my Mosler double screw door (1891) have the same patents.
