Security Edge an Australian cylinder manufacturer has started an advertising campaign (including the LH panel here) aimed at the consumer market via participating locksmiths. A breakdown diagram is at: https://securityedge.com.au/key-features/ .
It is basically similar to ASSA Twin, Schlage Primus etc except that the four auxiliary pins are operated by a sidewinder cut. The profile is protected by a 'registered design' (design patent) with 10 year life which expires in 2026. It seems that participating locksmiths are allowed to make the sidewinder cut since each MK system can have its own sidewinder combination. It allows construction keying, but not sure whether all plugs come with the needed blind hole (assuming that is the method). The advertising takes an indirect dig at BiLock by claiming that the Security Edge cylinder combines sidebar and pin tumbler.
It is claimed to be bump resistant, but then a bump key could be made to operate all cylinders with the same sidebar coding. Unless the sidebar mechanism is made to sufficiently tight tolerances (if that is possible) then it seems the main pins could be picked first followed by the finger pins. Construction keying could be a potential security issue since the construction key would be the same as the masterkey except for one cut (deeper than the corresponding masterkey cut) and could also be made into a bump key.
This system does not really seem to have any security advantages over other high security designs on the Australian market.
