There used to be a dust cover on this cylinder, it has been removed. That makes it a little easier. In the keyway (hole) you can see a brass looking flat piece. That is one of the disc tumblers. Where these rest on the cut key determines if the key works or not. These tumblers are spring loaded. That means they will get in the way of removing a broken key. You need to use an extractor, that's locksmith for hook or barb, to grab the broken piece and pull it out. At the same time you will need to keep those tumblers from springing back in the way. These tools are difficult to make if you haven't seen one. Go to ebay and get some, they are cheap. There is no magic way to get these broken pieces out, you just have to practice. Some of them will drive you nuts! Given the nature of the machine it may be a 2 sided key. Then the tumblers will be springing in the way from opposite sides, and you have to hold them back just the same to accomplish the removal. Every broken key has it's own little issues. Without seeing the lock I could not give you the specific scenarios for this job. Good luck.
