how do you guys go about getting customers? i would guess a lot of it comes from advertising so how do you stay in the face of the public and not get swallowed up by the competition?

I lease a website through Linknow media I pay a Search Engine Optimization team to get my website noticed I used to advertise in a local newspaper & phone book but I'm not seeing a decent return on that anymore

word of mouth is always a good way to go if your that lucky to get by on just that. repeat business is good too, but how many times are they gonna need you though? FRFT is very important to get these two above working in your favor.

I agree, I felt like the change happened overnight. The telephone book and newspaper might still be good for older people, but definitely a shrinking minority. Joe

hey Joe. being in Atlanta i cant honestly say i remember the last tele book ive seen. digital is the new way and there is no looking back. its nice to see the news papers still on shelves though. even it is nothing of its former glory. i knew it was going south when the sears catalog was trashed.
so how is everybody else keeping their business on top of the pile when folks are looking for a locksmith to hire?

ok so how do you keep from falling 10 pages back on all those sites? how do you stay in the top businesses to be seen when one does a search?

Google this. No matter what kind of business, every small business owner expects to be on the first page of results and the first thing people see. That only happens if your website is updated often so that Google notices it, you use a good mix of key words, and optimize the page. It is usually best to pay someone to do this. Google Ad Sense and buying Ads on Facebook is also good, but as others eluded, what keeps customers coming in and coming back is you being a good locksmith, not just being on the first page of results on a search engine. A lot of your recent questions are already well covered in many posts over the last 15 years of others asking the same stuff. ive spent many days looking and searching this forum before i joined. nice place but a lot of the questions i have are geared towards me and my situation at least much as i can make them. thats why ive kept my thread count as low as possible. 3 or 4 threads maybe? most of the questions i ask require more current information as things change rather quickly. like this thread for example. this thread should almost be worthless this time next yr i would thank with all the new tech and sites and software coming out, new ideas............ new ways..........

I'd add Patch if there is a local version. Also, do contact your local newspaper, find out who covers topical news, and come up with an interesting story for them to cover. Like how you helped open an old safe for someone, donated your services to a local charity, conducted a free home security seminar (partner with a local homeowners association or similar organization). Be creative in getting attention on a regular basis, always be a positive force for good in your community, and work will come your way.
