Okay, so I got a bit interested in lockpicking from a few youtube videos the algorithm randomly decided to grace me with, so I do what anyone does, I ordered a £10 set from amazon, it arrives, I have a play, and within 10 seconds and 0 instruction, I've picked the acrylic padlock that came with the set. No big surprises there, they aren't difficult, no problem.
Here is where I got stupid, I decided to pick my own door lock from the inside, and am flabbergasted (and a little horrified) that I successfully got the barrel moving. I repeated a couple of times to show it wasn't beginners luck, and was demonstrating to my fiance how easy it was, when I decided to go for the full rotation.
The barrel is now stuck, halfway round, and to my surprise the key wont go in, so I'm locked down in a lock down.
Its not fantastically urgent, I have another door, and I would happily call a locksmith to have them laugh at me for a bit but well, we are in lockdown, and none of them are available.
Is anyone able to help? Do I need to get pictures of the lock or is it even more stupidly obvious than that
Cheers

Hello and welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, you're not the first one that makes this mistake. The solution to your problem is quite simple, push all the bottom pins down with the flat side of the pick while you rotate the plug back. Here you can find more viewtopic.php?f=7&t=42970 Cheers

Ah, thank you very much, I understand what I've done now, apologies that I didn't see the stickies, I did look but I had no idea what I was searching for I see that like many people I assumed picking a lock was a binary thing, its picked and open or isn't and is closed, and that having the key was a get of jail free
Everyday is a school day!
