"The Pick That BosnianBill and I Made"

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

In case you've missed it. The famous(?) disc detainer pick that LockPickingLawyer and Bosnianbill constructed is finally available from Sparrows:

At that price, no wonder it sold out. Quite a bargain at only $1,000,000 CAD! Sorry I missed it. :( Guess I'll try again when they get the blah blah blahs taken care of and it is back in stock.

I think they underestimated the demand, they had only 500 or so in the first batch. Sold out in less than 2 hours... the price was 45 USD/55 CAD btw.

Which disc detainer locks can this actually pick? is it only good for made in China disc detainers like this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/164155157973 or could this open some older Abloy technology or does the tip shape dictate which keyway profiles it can be inserted into?

I'm a little behind on watching all of LockPickingLawyer's many videos, the same goes for BosnianBill's channel, so if they made a video covering my question, could someone please link to it here?

Thanks,
Squelchtone

It will pick most modern disc detainer locks with a sort of rectangular keyway. It will not pick the classic Abloy lock with a half-circular keyway, that requires a special tool.

Here's the video where LPL presents the Sparrows release, and picks a Kryptonite bike lock with it: EDIT: updated link in next reply

LPL also has a playlist for just these types of locks, where the prototype for this tool is featured in many: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLpIvUbO_777y8YQVbV1ZEqN4xd_V8GE4a

Seems is messed up the links. (And I can't edit the post?) Here's the actual link to the video:

... and here's Lock Noob's review as well. He goes into some detail on how this differs from the cheap Chinese picks you can get for a much lower price.

I want to make a note.
It's generally understood that using trash will not give good results.
However I've not been able to pick a single lock with a professional $500,- DD tool.
Why? Most likely because it's too well made and not suitable for someone starting out.

As far as thing tool goes. I do not know.
It's not too hard to 3D print a DD. There are a few designs on thingiverse.
Spooxe sells the tips. Silver bullet is also sold now as a 3D printed kit.

I'm not into DD locks yet.

Now that this tool has been out for a while and people have been using it, does anyone have any feedback on how it works?
