LaGard elctronic swingbolt catches on the lock body

I started getting difficulty opening the safe.
I have inspected the lock and I see that the bolt catches on the lock body.
You can see the indent on the lock body where the bolt has the raised edge.
I can smoothen the bolt edge with a grinder, but I'm curious what is the purpose of this raised edge on the bolt?
Why would the bolt start catching the lock body? I have this safe for over 10 years and this problem has appeared recently.
I have not opened the lock (it has security sticker around it). What is LaGard's warranty, would this lock be eligible for LaGard warranty? I tried calling safe manufacturer, but their office is closed due to coronavirus.

What is my best course of action?
1. Email LaGard
2. Smoothen the raised edge on the bolt
3. If warranty is out of the question then open the lock and see what is the underlying problem that has caused this condition?

Just pulled a new LaGard basic out & it does have that same raised edge, my guess is it does have a purpose, maybe it's time to buy a new lock?

I just searched for "LaGard 4200 lock" images and all of them have this tooth or raised edge on the bolt.

I would think the notch is so if someone is trying to force the bolt down, it would shift and catch on the lock body.

How old is your lock & how often do you open it?

I don't know La Gard locks, but all swing bolts that I have seen have bolts that are held with a spring, so that it can slightly move back. When the lock unlocks a pressure on the bolt doesn't move the bolt back, but turns it, because that is easy enough. When the lock is locked and someone wants to force back the bolt, the spring is compressed and this protrusion catches the case and transfers the pressure to the case instead of to the more flimsy internal mechanics.

When an electronic lock starts to make problems I would exchange it immediately.

The pivot pin/point for the Lagard swing bolt is not a round hole. The hole is elliptical and there is a spring that pushes the bolt to the normal position. If the bolt is pushed away from the normal position by bolt pressure/attack etc. the ledge you see on the bolt catches on the lock case.

Either the spring in the bolt has failed or the bolt pin has had excessive force applied and it is bent.

You need a new lock.

Once a new lock is installed, make sure that there is some clearance between the safe lock bolt and the door bolt work. Also avoid jerking the handle in the opening procedure.
