Cool key and lock case, I wish more residential doors in the USA were multi bolt and multi-point locking.

They are intricate, and I'd love to put locks like that on my doors. But, while I do have something similar that I could use, my doors just aren't made like the European doors.

There was one out of the Ukraine that I saw once that was truly drool-worthy, but couldn't find anyone that I could trust to send money to and have one bought and sent to me.

I've seen a teardown on one before it's something special.
This lock is not that expensive. I found one on ebay for ~€300
(I've not bought one as I've no need for one.)

I expected this lock to be similar priced to Fichet 3D at thousands of euro.

So true -- The first time I went to Italy, I was struck that the door to the very ordinary apartment I rented had a multi-bolt, multi-point lock that looked somewhat similar to this one, with a double-bitted lever-tumbler key that could rotate up to three times to throw the bolts successively deeper -- all fitted on a door almost worthy of a bank vault (it must have been about 5 in. thick). And overall, it does seem that high-security locks are a lot more prevalent on residential doors in Italy (and Europe in general, from what I've seen in my limited time there). On the other hand, it seemed to me that residential alarm systems were less common, so perhaps that partly explains the greater availability and popularity of better locks and doors to accommodate them. If so, I'd say they have the right idea -- I'd much rather have that Italian-style lock and door protecting my property than, say, a cheap Kwikset deadbolt backed up by a typical low-quality home alarm.
