Thumb turn difference

Postby Dyonzi » 6 May 2020 4:26

On a European thumbturn cylinder with a cog actuator, is there anything inside that makes the turning happen differently? I was on a job and ended up having to call a different locksmith for help. He explained that on a thumbturn specifically the key pushes all the way to the back of the cylinder and turns some sort of "button", effectively turning the other side of the cylinder at the same time allowing the actuator to rotate. Any thoughts to explain what he meant?
sorry if I wasn't clear...

Check your forum Private Messages, I am going to send you a video that I cannot share in public because it shows an easy bypass that bad guys may learn from.

If you are learning how to be a locksmith, it would be a good idea to get a thumbturn cog profile cylinder and take it apart and learn how it works.
