Schlage B360 deadbolt... SPOOLS!

I purchased a bunch of locks from a local handyman. The first I mounted on my practice board was the Schlage B360.
It gave a distinct "false set" and the plug turned about 10 degrees. I then probed each pin and #1 gave some counter-rotation and pushing a bit harder, the lock then turned open.
To verify what I was feeling, I relocked it and picked it a second time... and then a third. It was always Pin 1 that gave counter-rotation and then the plug turned.
I was expecting the Schlage had ONE (1) security pin. Wrong!
Pins 1-4 were all spool. Pin 5 was a normal driver.
I did not expect that.
This is a good practice lock.

Just by chance, you did not mention feeling or setting the other pins. Did you feel or set any other pins?

Yes. I single pin picked all the other pins and felt them go into place. However, none of them gave me any feedback as if they would be spool pins. It was as if they were all regular driver pins. I thought that was odd.

I also tried picking with a quick rake and got a false set very quickly, then only Pin 1 had to be picked and it opened.

Congrats on the opening. It is normal that a spool doesn't get caught and feels like a regular pin. There must be some conditions to allow the plug to rotate a little and catch the spool. For example there must be some space around other pins. That's why only one "works" in your lock. It depends on the lock tolerances and on the pins relative heights (or key bittings if you prefer).

By the way, I like very much your pin tray. Round grooves? Super easy to make! No need for fancy stuff like a mill. Looks cool.

I reassembled the lock and didn't notice anything abnormal about spool pin #1. It may just be a funky shadow in the picture.
After reassembly it still picks open the same way... #1 spool is the final (and only) pin to open the lock after a distinct false set.

That might have been caused by very long bottom pins if they did not allow the spool cut-out to go below the shear. Can you tell us what the bitting was?
