Can't think of a more boring pastime than fishing.

At least with programming you are constructing something of use. What use is sitting on a riverbank for hours on end, or worse - standing in freezing water waiting for a bite - only to chuck the bloody thing back in the water.

At risk of steering this thread back on course...!

If anyone's interested, I'm awaiting delivery of six Safeways KA deadlocks at the moment, to kick security off with. Probably one on each of the front doors, and two on the side and two on the back...

Not fitted any locks to vehicles before, hopefully it's pretty simple. Any tips anyone, apart from not drilling through the mechanisms operating the locks already in place?

I have fitted these to my van too evo, ok they are only a tubular but when the bolt is thrown on mine it is such a tight fit it actually is hard to pick it. On the first one i fitted i mis aligned the lock with the bolt and had to drill another hole so to cover it up i got one of my satin self adhesive repair plates and fitted that over the offending hole and placed the lock through it, added 4 pop rivets at the corners and it made for a neat install. I wish i had done it on the others actually as it draws attention to the extra locks. MOst of the fitting was planning and working out where to put the things, but i doubt i will use those again as i think a slim adams rite and euro may be an easier solution.

What van doors are you securing - barn door type or sliding ?.

I've installed ArmaPlate over the existing locks on all my doors to stop drilling, but I'm also considering additional locks all-round - including 2 x sliding side doors. I've heard bad reports on the "slam lock" type, as if your door goes out of allingnment - the lock is useless.

I've also disengaged the central locking on the van today !. Allows me to drive around town knowing my doors are locked.

I used them on sliding doors fitted at the back of the door not the handle end.

Cheers Toomush. Only a tubular? Judging by my tubular picking skills, it will be impossible to pick, even with the HPC quick reset that I have!

I'm probably going to fit one on each of the front doors, one either end of the sliding door, and two on the back door, one at the top and one at the bottom...

I've got an ex-BG van and God knows what they've done with the central locking and that, apparently they're always messing about with it. At least this way, as well as additional locks when you're not using the van, all doors are seperately deadlocked whatever you do with the central locking when you are using it...

Not the simplest to fit are they?! Only done the two front doors so far, the instructions are non-existent and you have to get the holes spot on, which aren't easy to line up.

I have a Kangoo Toomush, which I think is fairly similar to your Berlingo. Did you get one in the side door at the back OK? About how high up the door did you fit it? Had a quick look at the back and I'm not sure I'll get one in there, may have to buy a Limpet or something for there...

Just a warning for anyone thinking of fitting a Limpet or similar to their van; when it says it's for flush fitting doors, apart from a tiny amount of adjustment, it means for flush fitting doors!

I didn't really give it much thought when I bought one for my van as I presumed the doors were flush. When I came to fit it though, on closer inspection, I realised that they indeed were slightly rounded, as are most modern vehicles these days, and it posed a few problems...

Also, the Safeways deadlocks that I had could be opened with a tubular pick as quick as using the key!
