For clarity, once you've dialed in the correct combination, how did you open the cabinet? Was it the thumb latch below the combination dial? Have you tried dialing the combination and using the thumb latch since the button was pushed in? Given that, have you tried pressing the drawer in while operating the thumb latch? Again, just blue skying a few ideas. Were this a computer I would try pulling the power plug, but...

Anything to engage the internal latching mechanism, or rattle it. I'd suggest rocking the cabinet while operating the thumb latch as well.
It's a good day when I learn something new.

any way to stick a flat head screw driver around that Yale button and pry it out towards you? and it probably isn't but is it one of those buttons where you push it even deeper in and then it pops out all the way?

I've never seen anything like it!

Thanks for keeping us updated on your adventure.

He could drill a small hole in the brass oval, tap it, and thread on a small knob so he can pull it out the next time it gets bumped in.
Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool. Wisdom is not just in determining how to do something, but also includes determining whether it should be done at all.

Before the button got pushed in I used to dial the combination then push the lever under it to the side and it would open. This all changed when the button on the left got pressed in. I put in the combination pressed the lever to the side and rattled the drawer in and out—— no luck. I have lifted the front of the cabinet and dropped it—- no luck. Tapped gently on the pressed in button on the left side with a piece of wood and a ball peen hammer—- no luck it didn’t pop out. Should I drill out the button? I have looked on all sides of the cabinet and the bottom for an access point—- none the cabinet is solid.
I really appreciate all the help guys.

Could you drill and tap a threaded hole into the button, screw a bolt or screw into it and then grab that screw head with pliers and pull the button out?

Paullama1,

Any updates on this, i am curious about this as i have never seen a push lock like this without a keyhole. it seems like it is a filler for where the lock used to be but that makes no sense as you have no way to unlock it. The only thing i can think of is like suggested before to drill a hole in the luck plug and maybe put a slide hammer on it and see if you can gently pump it out. I would be careful as hitting it to hard with the slide hammer may break something internal to the cabinet.

Please give us an update.
