Scored an ILCO 027

Postby gdeadbolt » 23 Aug 2020 10:35

I've been picking for about 11 or 12 years now and have wanted a key cutting machine since before prices went crazy on the vintage units. Got lucky on ebay last week & scored an ILCO 027 for $180 shipped.

The cutting wheel is in decent shape & I've already ordered a NOS spare. The alignment was off and the right jaw was barely attached, but it's working great now and makes good copies.

Is there a 4-way jaw that will fit this machine?

Any advice for a first time owner?

Here is a link to the manual. I don't think they make any other jaws.

Right after I bought my HPC Speedex 9120 which came with two-way jaws, HPC came out with a 4 way--I got a new carriage and swapped them out

you could likely do the same thing using Ilco parts & see about getting a carriage for an Ilco 024A/B, 025 or similar

Is that the direct drive one? I have a brand new one of those been sitting on the shelf for years. Perhaps I should post it on eBay as I have no use for it.

Thank you for the link to the manual as well as the idea to try swapping carriages. That's a great idea.

Apparantly ebay has some restrictions on lockpicking tools and key duplicators, but some crafty wording in the title lets a few slip by. This one was listed as "ilco key machine". They tend to go for $250-300 on Orlando Craigslist when they pop up & are usually well worn.

I'd be interested in your machine! (I collect them)

I will try to remember to send some photos in a PM to you when I go to work on Monday. Stay on me, I am so busy lately that I tend to forget to do things. I owe someone on here a list of padlocks I have.
