Small Vintage Meilink Safe

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Small Vintage Meilink Safe

Hi there I have found an old safe in my grandparents old house. There is some kind of jewelry or coins inside as I can hear metal objects rolling around. I'm not very interested in tearing it apart so I was wondering if anyone may be able to help. There are all kinds of numbers written down at their old house so I'm sure the combo is somewhere, I just don't know what the combo consists of. If anyone has any idea of the correct sequence to open I may be able to try some numbers I find. There is no model or serial number included. It just says 609 on the dial. Any help would be much appreciated. Also, I have never used imgur before so I am hoping the photos upload correctly. Please inform me if they are not.

Cool find, and your photos worked great!

I will tell you that your combination will be 3 numbers and the last thing in the sequence is turning the dial Right in order to retract the 2 bolts that lock the safe. This may be marked at the "4th number of the combination" but it really isn't part of it.

The sequence should be 4 times Left to the 1st number, 3 times Right to the 2nd number, 2 times Left to the 3rd number, 1 time Right to retract the bolt.

Check your forum messages for a document I'll send you..

Here are a couple photos of what it looks like inside, the combination wheels are not pictured.

Good pictures to both of you. Squelchtone, do you a picture of the wheel pack on the back cover? He could put a very small hole in the back and read the combo through the sight hole.

Raymond it looks as if a sight hole already exists. And I agree, that will get the job done.

There will be a cover screwed to the isnide of the door, you will not see the lock by looking into a hole from the back of the safe...

These locks leak enough information when spinning the dial that if the OP takes the time to learn manipulation, they can probably dial it open in the next few weeks to a month.

Funny thing. I just saw this safe in an episode of Mannix, set in a wall behind a painting, and no Meilink sticker.

You are also reading the number on the dial wrong. It is not "609". That is upside down. Flip it over and it reads "609" instead.
