Old safe, inner vault Yale relocker help

Old safe inner vault door Yale safe door. I got it with lock not working. I took it to a locksmith to have it repaired. He kept it for a while and told me it was fixed. $100. I took it home and bolted it on but the pin would not retreat far enough. Combo locksmith gave me did not seem to work. After reading another post here and trying one number off I finally deciphered that part of it.
My problem- one of the locking pins was home made. I took the relocker pin out and and tried it on the side that worked with the combination that had the homemade pin. And it worked! Now I am on a search for another pin and other relocker parts. Anyone know how old this safe is or info on it? Thanks!

you'd have to show us the inside of the bolt work and safe lock and point with a sharpie or tape or something to the parts you are needing help with or help replacing.

1930's to 1950's would be my guess for the age of it.

Are there any names on the safe other than Yale? Do you have a photo of the whole safe?

On the outer door combination lock it says Schwab. I don’t see anything else?

If all you need is a pin, have you tried a dowel pin (solid) or a roll pin (hollow)

Is this kind of what it looked like before you or the locksmith took it apart?



What *do* you have as far as parts go? can you post a photo of all the plates and bolts?

Are you just missing 1 bolt or are you missing the main bolt, and the 2 relocker bolts, and the plate that held everything on to the back cover of the lock?

You're not gonna find those parts easily or at all, it is highly unlikely. Start making stuff out of sheet metal or have a machine shop make you some bolts or the bolts and the plate for you, or use the safe without relockers.

Do you want the relockers all intact and functional to use the safe to store cash or jewels or to restore it and sell it as a vintage safe?

The lesson here is that not all locksmiths as also competent safe and vault technicians, and that working on something on the work bench and then bringing the part back to the main safe body may have side effects. I'm guessing paying the locksmith to come to you and work on the safe there so he can see the issue you are having is not reasonable either money wise.

I just put it all back together without the relocker bolt and put the door back on and it works. I do plan on using it so I would like the relocker to work. I do have someone that can make it for me. Only one bolt Each for relocker and main lock. Here is the mechanism for the relocker I left out.

the same diameter & drill a hole in it & you don't need anything more than basic tools to do that
