Hello everyone, I am new to this site and this is my first post. I have a Cary safe and I am at a loss as far as somebody to give me an approximate value of it. I am not even sure if this is right please to be looking but I guess I have to start somewhere. If somebody could give me information or appointment right direction it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

I have pictures of the safe but cannot post them. Then follow the directions after clicking on the link and it took me somewhere that had nothing to do with posting a picture. I do have the combination and the lock system does work properly. But I’m sure that’s not gonna do any good without a picture.

Ooooooh! That's sweet! Very nice.

Be aware that the interior lining might be asbestos plate. If it is, just be careful to avoid breathing any dust from it. OTOH, it looks just like the exterior, so maybe it's just painted metal?

BTW, that is called a jewelers chest, and the lock is a Yale Y6.

That's awesome! No idea what it's worth - unlike stuff that can be shipped in the mail, it really depends on what someone in your area is willing to pay. But it's definitely not worthless. This is a nice safe and lock.

Wish I could buy that thing. It would have to be shipped ground freight.

For actual value based on being an old safe, being complete, most importantly being open, and being kind of cool and unique looking, probably $750-$1000 depending on how bad a buyer had to have it. I'm intrigued by the orange and black tiger stripe, but those blocks of metal are supposed to be chrome or base metal with no paint, so I would need to strip that tiger stripe pattern off immediately.

If I were to buy that from you on craigslist, I'd offer at least $350 cash hoping you'd sell it for $400-$500, anyone offering you $100 or $250 is low balling, doesn't know safes, or is an a**hole.

A lot of folks stop by here and other lock forums and facebook safe collectors groups asking how much their safe is worth. I'm only guessing here, but folks probably think their antique safe is worth $5000 or something like that, and unless it is professionally restored and has a paint shop quality classic car paint job and 7 layers of clearcoat with gold pin striping and all the parts re-nickeled or re-chromed, it's all gonna fall in the Please-pick-this-up-for-Free-to-$750 dollar range, again, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay, and sometimes the task of hauling off an old safe or even getting it out of someone's basement and down or up a few steps or into a pick up truck or back of an SUV can ward off most interested buyers.

just my 2 cents, your mileage may vary...

Careful! The tigerstripe looks legit.

Whoa! I guess I take it back. I'm still not sure I'm a fan, but if it is indeed original, then that certainly adds to the value!

Thanks for finding that pic!
