WOAH there Squelchy indeed! That is indeed original, in nice shape, and a real pain in the ass to recreate. Those parts are copper plated, the copper is then "Japaned" with acid, then the stripes polished back in to create the design. Those were complicated parts to do and involved a lot of labor. With some gentle cleaning it will look quite nice.
When restoring my National safe that had this finish inside, I had to spend a lot of time researching the process as most of the finish had been worn off. It was a complicated and pricey endeavor.
