ID a Yale padlock?

Postby Peter Martin » 19 Oct 2020 17:57

Got an old Yale pin tumbler padlock at an antique store. Most of that they had were old Master warded and #3/5 locks. This was at a bottom of the bin.
It's marked 627.
The key is very worn but has an indirect code.
Not sure what blank it uses, but it looks like a shrunken 4-pin Y1.
Anyone have an exploded diagram?

Uffda. This keyblank appears to be an ILCO R997EB. The inverse of the common profiles and about 75% as tall.

Something tells me this is going to be as rare as hen's teeth.
Doesn't look like there are any common 5=pin versions I could cut down either.

South Dakota? Sounds more like you are from Minnesota or Wisconsin. Uffda.

We need to see the keyway. Could also be a sectional like JA.

A Y220 is the 4 pin version of the Y1. (if that helps)

Peter Martin:

I agree it is a four pin blank. It is not Y1 or reverse Y1. The shape of the grooves are all wrong.
I would look at the sectional key blanks as suggested.

I can't tell too much from the keyway. It seems pretty worn. That front pin also looks a bit flat.
