Old Prison Locks, same Key

Was on ebay looking at Prison Locks, Alcatraz, San Quintin, Leavenworth, Yuma Territorial, and notice they used the same Key, makes sense when transporting a Prisoner, kept Guards from having to have a ring of Keys, sort of like the Modern Handcuff Key used today.? Next time I look through my old Keys will look for one. Anyone with one of these old locks may want to look, as it may help make a Key for an old lock you have.

careful, there's a lot of fake padlocks on ebay that have a little brass plaque attached that lists the name of a famous prison, but those are not real authentic locks used at those prisons.

Thanks, wasn't looking to buy one, just noticing cuts of keys, have good eBay screenshots, still take me too many steps to post links, some day I hope to attach a photo. They look Authentic. Believe Ones I was referring too were Real. People get good at Counterfitting. I believe you can now get a better Mona Lisa, than Michaelangelo's.

Yep. Those are vintage. Made last week in Thailand. Tons of those are sold online, and all are fake.

how can I explain this.. all of those padlocks are gimmicks.. the prisons didn't have padlocks like that at all, they used locks mounted on cell doors.

They're just fake man, there's no real ones to compare against.

Thanks, I thought maybe they used Padlocks on Stage Coaches and Their Money Boxes, or Prisoners in chains. I guess I watch too many Movies. I have a Set Of old Mattatuck Handcuffs, they appear Real?

I've seen pics of the Yuma Prison locks on different auction sites. I sent the auction link to the director of The Yuma Prison Museum and he said those are all BS. Fake. Only conversation pieces.

We are saying that they were nothing like the ones being sold as being from the famous prisons. And they were rarely made alike for transport. A jailer who was transporting the prisoners would have the keys.
