Kwikset installation kit

Postby Peter Martin » 19 Nov 2020 21:48

Saw this a few weeks ago at an antique store, lying among the junk tools. A bit rusty, but I think that can clean up. Marked "400 LH". It has the 2-1/8" guide holes on each side.
I also found some Weiser faceplate marking tools and a strike marking punch. All for around $20.

Nice score! For 20 bucks it's definitely worth having, even if you don't actually need it.
For an old tools lover, like me, it's a piece of history!

Cheers :)

The rust is cleaned off by soaking the kit in a bath of vinegar for a few days. Twice a day I would use some steel wool and clean off the loosened and dissolving rust.
The inside bearing materials look much better. It has some oil on it until I can get to it more thoroughly next month.
So far, so good.
