determining combination for Victor safe

Postby jcard0n1 » 23 Nov 2020 15:50

I have a 1930 era Victor safe and several possible combinations. Some are 4 number sequences, others are 5.

The dial spins freely and the tumblers seem to rattle.

One of the 5 number sequences ends with stop at 37 then turn left to open.

Any advice?

Yes, my first advice is to show us photos of the safe.

And my second advice is to show us photos of the notes with the numbers.

+1000

It's always good to see exactly how someone wrote down their shorthand version of how *they* dialed a safe open, versus what the manufacturer intended. People are their own worst enemy when they scribble numbers down without meaning.

JCard0n1, How sure are you that these sets of numbers belong to this particular safe?

Thank you,

Also a Photo of your House and Address.

But Seriously, Turning dial can determine number of wheels, also Combo may be reverse order of what's written, I don't like to write Codes or Combos as is. Like to reverse or make look like a phone number. Good Luck
The numbers as sugested would be a great help.

Not only the numbers, but a photo of the numbers. There might be some helpful chicken scratch.

Hi!
Your links are not properly formatted for this forum, but I see enough of your photos, I think. Unless you have more than that big Victor.

The lock of the Victor safe has three code wheels. Only the first three numbers are real code numbers. The final number is automatically happening by a full stop. The Victor is dialled the same as most modern safe locks. It is explained e.g. in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwpJeFzUuwY . The first number has to be at least the fourth time at the index. Five times as indicated on your sheet is also fine. If dialling is started at 0 or not doesn't matter. The second and third number must be dialled exactly as shown in the video.

I fixed the photo links..

Please note that..

The links your provided all point back to albums on imgur's website, and our [img] tags do not know how to display an album webpage.

This link is to the actual photo embedded inside that webpage, and our [img] tag knows how to display it here on the forum.

Nice safe by the way!
