Specific lock impressioning possibility question

Postby Smasmasma » 28 Nov 2020 8:15

Hi. I am trying to impression a lock that is the exact model as the one in this video,

https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=emb ... OJqd-HO2Xs

At some point, the person in the video takes out the pins from the lock and you can see them all.
As far as I can tell there are no anti impressioning pins. But I have limited knowledge on this so i would really appreciate if others could have a look and confirm or deny my judgement.

As a side question, it also looks like it could be bumped. Am I guessing right?

Thanks a lot!

Looked like you mostly want to open it, I would pick it, then make a Key from the pins.

I don't want to pick it, it has spool pins and it's not my strong point. Also I would like to improve on my impressioning skills:)

You mention Bumping, threw me a little. If me, I would buy the same lock with Keys, and see what, dissemble, see where the Spools are, then go at Impressioning, You will learn something.
Hopefully someone will give Better help on Impressioning Locks with Spools, Good Luck

Driver pins do not affect impressioning. Spooled, normal, serrated, whatever. Doesn’t affect impressioning. Go for it. Just be sure not to over-tension the blank while making your impressioning marks. That is a very common mistake.

There is a post on impressioning different types of locks that should help.

There is no reason why this DOM can't be impressioned. Just take your time and you'll get there.
The shape of the pins can mean that this specific lock can have different markings depending on the pin type and where you re in the process.
From experience some locks have false marks that are mistaken for 'real' marks.

When you are unsure just polish the blank and wiggle it again.
