Gordon, you are ever creative, those tag strips work well for shimming the Yale push key padlocks too. SFIC locks are such a unique style, glad there's quite a bit of info on them.
that's one very good approach, and a lot of time saving. thanks GWeins2001.
hi everyone, im glad to be a member of this very interesting community, our community of locksmiths. i hope i could help others, within my ability, and hope you can help me too, God bless us all fellow locksmiths.

Even on some new ones though, the control sleeve fits really tight, and I'm not sure that it's possible to shim them. Also, could you remind me where these security tags are from, and how thick they are.
Sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but this question was unanswered and is still relevant.
The security tags come from many products sold. The rectangular plastic things put inside DVD cases with adhesive tape, small products sold at stores. Cut the end off, and out will side two very thin metal pieces (the shims).
They are about.0015" thick (.0381 mm). They are quiet delicate, but are so thin that I have successfully used them to shim ASSA Twin, which has a tighter tolerance than the Best SFIC cores. They are much thinner than the official Locksmith shims you can buy from supply houses.
Just found this video with them.

Just when you finally think you have learned it all, that is when you learn that you don't know anything yet.
Nice work, Before Lishi came out with the Master Lock 2 in 1 Pick Decoder, I wanted to make Keys for Master Locks that had none, Idea was to use Depth Keys, file the points so they are all straight across, then push keys in 1 by 1, til a depth can't be inserted. That decodes pin 1. The rest can only be decided if next pin is a shallower cut. This way, worse case, you have to Impression a 3 pin lock? Did get the Lishi Master, had the Idea in a 2013 Post, Lishi Did come out with it maybe 2 Years ago, wasn't sure there was room, but thought if anyone could, it would be Lishi, they didn't do Pin Locks yet, now they even do the Best.
