Nice old safe you have there.

There's a group on Facebook of a bunch of safe technicians and collectors who can probably give you a quick answer, share your photos with them: https://www.facebook.com/SafeAndVaultCollectors

When you turn the dial does the silver plate with the outside notch cut out of it turn with the dial spindle that you remove the spline key out of? maybe insert something in there to keep the small silver wheel from turning and try to turn the dial and unscrew from that plate like you unscrewed from the drive cam.

good luck,

Thanks, unfortunately I don’t use facebook but I thought the same thing about the outside notch. I put a screwdriver in it and it would not uncsrew when I turned the dial. I could be stuck but I was turning with enough force the screwdriver would pull out of my hand.

I think the spline key needs to be explained. There is a small brass piece sticking out in the middle. This is the spline key. It is plugged into a slot of the spindle and the big brass disc (drive cam) to prevent a separation of both in operation. It needs to be pulled out completely. This can be quite difficult. It would be the best if you could put something under a gap to lever and wiggle it out. Otherwise you can try to pull it out with good pliers. But be careful. If it sits to tight the head might rip off.

Yes I got the spline key out on th brass discs off but the dial still won’t come out. I found this picture online that shows a similar dial that was forsale a while back but i still cant tell exactly how it goes together.

So you were able to unscrew the part show here (first photo in worthpoint) in the lower middle?

If it still doesn't come out, then you are probably on your own to find out. Whatever keeps the spindle from removal is non-standard.

I wonder if that's some sort of punch proof spindle or something. can you unscrew the Yale logo plate from the front of the dial and see if you can find another spline key behind it or a regular screw or nut?
