I have just got a masterlock 570 and I’m having serious problems with over setting pins 1&2 while I’m trying to set the other pins. I’m using a sparrows standard hook and have tried both TOK/BOK with no success. I am fairly new to locksport but have had past successful opens with spool pins in other locks. I can’t even get to initiating a binding order on this lock. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thx.

Sometimes with the Masterlocks with spools, I find I need to go really light on the tension and not let the tension wrench turn fully when you feel the set. Then keep checking the other pins and see which ones will set again. Once it seems that all will not move, then increase tension to turn the plug.

Just got a 570 Recently, took a while to do first time, 30 or more times since, light Tension is for sure needed, has a Dead Plug, No spring to it, 5 pins, 4 are Spools, I find I Use Picking as Bosnian Bill calls it, if I understand correctly. Which is with light Tension, go Front to Rear, or Rear to Front, back and forth, checking each pin, not really focusing on Binding order. Don't forget the 5th pin. Some say it is an easy one, or easy to take, I think they may have gotten easy Biting, or they Are good.

Thx for the help, I eventually got the open by reducing the tension drastically so sound advice.

Good deal, I Mention of one method mentioned by Bosnian Bill, forgot to say, but "Beach(edited) Picking" is method I was saying. No Binding order, just back and forth, pin to pin. Never knew it had a name, been doing that years.

I saw that video from bosnianbill and it really helped. Not concentrating on binding order and instead focusing on going through the pins back and forth slowly is a good strategy.
