How to pick a lock

Postby Jakasmrd » 30 Jan 2021 4:27

Hello,

I am a complete beginner. I have a few questions. Since I live in Slovenia, I am not allowed to buy lock picks, because it is against the law. So I went on youtube and searched how to make a lock pick. So I saw you can make a lock pick from a wiper blade insert (the metal part). So I would like to pick a lock
TITAN K1 Image. This is a lock I would like to pick.

Can you please tell me how should I design lock picks, tension wrench, and how thin and long should they be? Or any other equipment I would need for defeating this lock.

I also watched a guy try to defeat a lock
.
The important part starts at 2.26 minutes.

He said he wasn't able to open a lock if he was pushing pins down and raking them.

Then he said something about shear line and moved his pick to the middle of the lock, and he was able to open it.

Can you also please explain to me how should I pick a lock. I always thought I should press down pins to the lock, but now I learned that is not the case. How can I know how much I need to press on a pin with pick.

I am clueless, can you please explain the locks and how should I pick it.

Thank you so much, Looking forward to your reply.

Best regards, Jaka

Some good Animations, and Videos on YouTube,
Start with small cam locks or cheap Padlocks, the Clear ones are helpful in seeing each pin hanging up on the Shear Line, you can try starting at the back or the front, lifting pins one by one, Their is a "Binding Order", you may find you need to set pin 3 first, then 2, then 1, then pin 4. Then progress to Better locks. I would start with light Tension, slowly increase as necessary. Not enough to bend the picks. Better and Tougher Locks will Start bending picks.
A Hook and a Diamond are a good start.
Wiper inserts are different widths, I get whatever in Garbage can in front of Auto Parts Store, (Rainey Days have more Wipers). Just sticking out, saying, Take Me. Wide ones are Rarer, can make better Hooks, you will need to grind down so you have a variety of Tension Wrench widths.
Good Luck, Stay Legal.

Are you sure that having picking tools at all is legal in your country?
Even in some states in the US, just having lockpicking tools can be enough for the police to charge someone with having burglary tools & will get you a ride to jail

Hi,

Thanks for your answer I want to ask you, did you mean I should start picking locks by just raking them or going like lock picking lawyer (we got click out of 4...). Can you please explain both methods, and how should I pick them.

Best regards, Jak

Looked at Laws in Slovenia, Saw Trafficking, Terrorism, Human abuse, many other Laws, Couldn't find anything on Lockpicks(just means I didn't look in the right spot), but did see if you were in possession and we're caught about to do something with them Illegal, even if you didn't get to try, you would be in Violation. Not a Lawyer. You are responsible for you. You may become a Locksmith?
Google "Lock Picking Animation", should help clear things up.

It is easier for you to learn by watching some lock picking videos instead of having us trying to explain it.

Watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfwQxhIbr5o
