Lock pick set for beginners

Postby Jakasmrd » 19 Feb 2021 6:08

Hi,

I was wondering if you could help me with buying my first lock pick set. I don’t want to order from USA because it would take too long to arrive. I was wondering if there is any company that is based in Europe. I am from Slovenia (European union). I am locking for a quality lock pick set, I plan on picking quite a lot of locks. I don't want something most basic but a little better. Which company and set do you reccomend

Thanks, Jaka

HPC Novice pick set

https://www.internationalkeysupply.com/ ... tm_content

You also should get some top of keyway tension wrenches but those are easy to make, this is my fav

https://www.internationalkeysupply.com/ ... 2-1-4-inch

I like to grind the TOK side so it will work in smaller keyholes, like mail box locks & master padlocks

Aren't these guys in New York? Jaka said he didn't want to buy from a USA based distributor.

Hi,

thanks for your reply. I went on Wendt website and saw different brands like Southford and Peterson, and I am wondering if they are already stored in Germany and they will just ship them over to Slovenia, or when I place an order for Southfords they will put in order to Southford so they are some kind of broker?

And which picks and tension wrenches should my kit include as I am a beginer? And I am planning on picking quite a lot of locks.

Looking forward to your reply, Best regards, Jaka

What do you mean exactly that you are planning on picking quite a lot of locks? You mentioned this detail already several times. Are you a hobby lock picker, a locksmith, or a master criminal?

We of course are not going to tell you to buy a pick set that will break after you pick 5 locks.. But if you are very rough with your tools, then you can break a $150 dollar pick set just as easily as you can break a $25 dollar pick set.

I do not know if they have the lock picks in stock in Germany already, perhaps email or call their Customer Service department and ask them? Is there a hurry to get lock picks very quickly? Is there a lock you are trying to pick and need to do it soon? You could just wait a week or two for your picks to arrive and watch some youtube videos in the mean time and learn some basic terminology and technique before your lock pick set arrives in the post.

Perhaps give us some background information about why you want to pick locks and what you hope to get out of learning how to pick locks, so that we can give you the best answer and advice.

Thank you,
Squelchtone
