Question about a lock in the Philippines

Postby Black85vette » 2 Mar 2021 19:25

A question from another forum. Here is the text;

Location: Baguio City, Philippines
I have a lockset that comes from the factory set up for a door that opens inward with hinges on the right. I need to reverse everything so that it will work on a door with hinges on the left. initially, it was installed upside down, and it works that way (albeit weirdly), but I'm trying to flip it. I can reverse the rotation of the shaft that operates the mechanism and can flip the catch around so the door closes and then stays shut, but I can't figure out how to get the lever handles to face the opposite direction.

The handles themselves have to set screws or other releases on them, so they have to come apart from the inside. It looks easy, but it apparently isn't. I took the lockset to the closest thing to a locksmith here, but they couldn't figure it out either.

<end text>

Here is a link to the topic with pictures. He is not on this forum but I will send him a link to any responses you may have.

Under that plate with the 4 screws is a very strong spring that he will likely never get reloaded if it uncoils--it would be better to flip the whole assembly over than to take it apart. When it's turned over that should reverse it's handing, I think?
